As globalisation continues apace, our interconnectedness means that no major event is likely to leave the rest of the world untouched, regardless of where it takes place.
As global chairman of Aurecon, I am reminded of this on a daily basis as I watch our team of engineers, scientists, technical specialists and management consultants work with our clients to solve issues impacting communities around the world. From Africa, across the Middle East and Asia and into Australia and New Zealand, we are experiencing similar challenges – population growth, urbanisation, huge demand for resources to fuel developing economies, the challenges of poverty and underdevelopment, land use constraints and environmental and sustainability issues are just a few of the issues faced by our interconnected world.
Formed as the result of a merger between three great heritage companies based across three continents last year, Aurecon now has international teams of world-class technical and management specialists with in-depth local and regional knowledge committed to addressing these challenges.
I am proud of the way our international teams are pooling their skills and expertise across geographies to partner with our clients in the public and private sectors to create and design infrastructure, systems and processes that help our interconnected world deal with its challenges.
The efforts of the board and leadership team during our merger process have been outstanding and I am proud to chair a company committed to the world-class technical work and strong community values that are reflected on the pages of our website. I look forward to seeing the results of our people’s commitment and partnership with our clients as they work to enhance the interconnected world of today for the global community of the future.
